Small mod, it was less than $8.00 with shipping included. I need input on this. Good? Bad? Just plain ugly? It's stuck on there really well, and it's perfectly level.

That, and the overall design language. The functional interiors, the beautiful gauge clusters (especially BMW's), and even the key fobs look great.

07/16/2014 at 23:02

Kinja'd!!!1

YES! I have a boring black non sport interior but the E90's have gorgeous interiors. I'm also in love with the orange glow of the gauge cluster at night. It's really easy on the eyes.

Kinja'd!!! Trevor Mohr > AM3R
07/16/2014 at 23:05

Kinja'd!!!0

It's okay that you don't have the sport interior; it's still gorgeous! I love the 2-tone, the seat color is amazing, and a manual! I will say, BMW's have the best steering wheels. I've driven at least 5 Bimmers now, and the wheels are all perfectly sized and shaped. I love my GTI wheel too; it's honestly my favorite wheel. It feels great and is also perfectly sized. So, Germans are good at steering wheels too.

Good point on the steering wheel! The first thing I did was retrofit an M3 steering wheel. I recently sold it (for just a much as I bought it for) and swapped my old steering wheel back on.

I wish I had a two tone interior like the one above. Black is nice and classy but it gets hot and boring. The GTI steering wheel is PERFECT. In my limited experience driving one, I always enjoy how fat the steering wheel is. I have big hands so that's always something I appreciate.

07/16/2014 at 23:13

It's good that you sold it for the same price. Honestly all BMW steering wheels are extremely well-designed. I also have big hands, and having a wheel like that is great.

What I like the most about German cars and BMW specifically is a variety of OEM upgrades. They hold value like nobody's business. The steering wheel was great but I want to step up from the stock 16's into something lighter and better looking so I sold them to a guy on an M3 forum who paid full price without haggling at all. I'm thinking about buying a BMW performance exhaust and looking at the price of used ones, I should be able to sell it for around $700 whenever I'm done with it. Not bad considering it's just under a grand new from the dealer installed.

Kinja'd!!! Trevor Mohr > AM3R
07/16/2014 at 23:24

Kinja'd!!!0

Completely agree. It's such a great benefit. I'm taking a complete OEM+ route with my car, so I'll have a ton of Euro parts in there. I'll start off with Euro LED tails, then I'm going to get the Euro switch with the rear fogs, and work from there.

Kinja'd!!! AM3R > Trevor Mohr
07/16/2014 at 23:43

Kinja'd!!!1

oem+ is a great way to go. I'm thinking 18 inch M3 wheels, performance exhaust, performance suspension, add Euro xenon headlights. I'll be completely satisfied once I have all this done and all parts will hold value pretty well so if I ever want to do something else I can just sell whatever I get tired of.

E60s are pure art. In a world where it seems like all the cars are just blending together, BMW always manages to stand out and look great. The kidney grilles have to be my favorite thing of all cars, they look great.

I love the kidney grills. I'm debating whether I should keep them chrome (only chrome part on the car) or switch them out for some oem Gloss black ones. Thoughts?

Kinja'd!!!1

I completely relate :D quick question, what do you use for the interior? I really wanna get the interior clean but I don't know what products to use.

Also, I recommend stoners invisible glass. Best thing to clean glass with.

Kinja'd!!! Trevor Mohr > AM3R
07/17/2014 at 21:17

Kinja'd!!!0

Thanks for the glass tip, I've been looking for something to clean the glass! For interior, I use the house vacuum first, I use ultra-microfiber cloths to polish metal parts, one of those air cans for the crevices and such, and that's about it. So far it's a new car, but when it ages I'll use things like Meguiars leather conditioner/cleaner.

Kinja'd!!! AM3R > Trevor Mohr
07/17/2014 at 22:03

Kinja'd!!!1

I need to find a good product to clean the plastics with. Those have gotten pretty scuffed up but I wanna bring them back to life. Luckily my leather still looks new, I haven't treated it yet.

Kinja'd!!! Trevor Mohr > AM3R
07/17/2014 at 23:00

Kinja'd!!!0

There are a few things from Mothers/Meguiar that are specifically made for plastic polishing and restoration. For the hard black plastics, especially on the exterior, there's a specific restorer for that. For the inside, there's Mothers Protectant, which is an all-use type thing. They also sell a specific carpet stain remover which, from my experience, works great.

Kinja'd!!! AM3R > Trevor Mohr
07/17/2014 at 23:08

I'll definitely look into mothers sealant. I wanna fully detail the car so I can take some good pictures of it.

Do you detail it all by hand?

Kinja'd!!! Trevor Mohr > AM3R
07/18/2014 at 00:04

Kinja'd!!!0

It's a great feeling having that. Yes, I detail it all by hand. Sure it takes more time, but the more time you put in, the better the car will come out.

Kinja'd!!! AM3R > Trevor Mohr
07/18/2014 at 00:36

Kinja'd!!!1

I also do it all by hand. It's a good workout lol! The best feeling is when you finish and look back at it and know that you did it all by yourself. You always gotta reward yourself with a beer, a cigar, or (my favorite) some ice cream lol.
